old faithfuls and new old favourites..

IMG_0516

So having made the conscious decision to start saving money and stop spending I've found myself splurging far too much this past week! I would say that all of my purchases are 'essentials' though, and I'm still working on building a more work-friendly wardrobe. However despite the new additions I've picked up, I'm still finding myself being drawn to some old faithfuls..

These shorts are literally one of my favourite purchases, EVER! I've yet to fall out of love with them, doubt their purchase or consider retiring them in over a year. And when they went into the sale I didn't even feel bitter about having paid full price for them (which speaks volumes when I explain that yes they did have a reduced pair of size 8's). I don't mind splashing out on staple pieces or garments that I really LOVE. Honest. I think what I'm obsessed with is their versatility; I quite happily teamed them with heels and a peterpan collar blouse to wear out on Saturday night, but then they work equally well as a smart day time outfit when paired with a loose t-shirt. In fact, I think they're getting better with age.

The necklace I'm wearing in the photo is also a new old favourite of mine. It was given to me as part of my 21st birthday present from the girls, and came (beautifully wrapped up) all the way to Barcelona with us.

I love the way it fuses together old and new with it's vintage style teardrops mounted on clear perspex. It was buried in an old jewellery box and was unearthed just before I left for India. I hardly seem to wear necklaces anymore so I've decided to start making a conscious effort to. It's also reminded me how desperately I need to sort out my old jewellery.. who knows what other treasures might be lurking??

  7. OMG, love the necklace!
anyway, don´t you hate it when a piece you JUST bought goes on sale? but if it´s a great item, i really don´t care since mostly my size is not available anymore anyway (OR THAT´S WHAT I WANT TO BELIEVE, LOL).
