Fashion: Tropical prints and pink leather

So it's only been 6 months since my last outfit post and here I (finally) am again... When it comes to blogging, and when I say blogging what I mean in particular is when it comes to fashion blogging, I will happily be the first to admit that I am one of the most awkward people in front of a lens. Despite (barely) keeping up my blog for the past 7 years (yes, 7), I still look (and feel) horrendously uncomfortable in photos. I love the writing part, and I love taking photos, but being in them? Not so much. Still Helen seems determined to drag me and my little blog into a better blogging routine. That and I couldn't resist finally sharing my favourite purchase of the season. Who knew pink leather would be such a staple? If the last couple of months have taught me anything, it's to expect the unexpected. Be it my professional life, relationships or sartorial choices. So yeah, I'm happy to admit that I've happily lived in this butter soft pink leather AllSaints jacket. Being a soft blush pink, it's the perfect spring / summer neutral shade and I've yet to find an outfit it doesn't go with. It's the sort of jacket that instantly adds a bit of laidback chic to whatever you're wearing. And yes, it's pink. I'm a bit obsessed with the colour palette this outfit creates. I wouldn't say I'd usually be a tropical print person, but when I saw this shirt dress in Mango I couldn't resist! Like I said though, I've come to sort of expect the unexpected. If you'd told me a few months ago I'd be venturing out into the world of freelance half way through one of the craziest years of my life, I probably wouldn't have believed you either. Not that I'm in any way complaining about my newly found freedom, or ability to devote entire mornings now to brunch catch ups and coffee shop meetings. Trust me, I'm not. Since venturing out into the mildly frightening world of freelancing, and getting a bit (a lot) of much needed headspace, I've been really looking forward to getting back into my writing. Or more specifically get more into my blogging. I've been on some amazing trips already this year and after finally getting around to sharing my posts from Marrakech, I wanted to put more back into my blog. With a little facelift (c/o Pipdig) and a lot of motivational chats from Helen, I'm getting there. It helps to that since setting out as a freelancer, she's in the same boat too. Not just in that we can help each other take outfit photos (which hopefully I'll come to feel more comfortable about soon). Also we get to do nice stuff, like sit and have a late breakfast in the sunshine at Long Play Cafe and plan more holidays. You know the fun stuff, when you don't have to get up and go to work every day. All joking aside, I'm not sure if this will just end up a bit of a sabbatical from full time employment, but I'm definitely going to make the most of being out of the rat race for a little while at least.
