It didn't seem right just posting a snippet of the sartorial treat that is
Charade, so I thought it was only fair that I gave it a full Stylish Moments post. Combining espionage, a quick-witted script, and a bit of sixties romantic comedy fluff, I have to agree with
Roisin's comment on my last post that this is possibly one of my favourite Audrey Hepburn films. Playing a flirtatious and forward, (if a little ditzy and easily distracted) widow, Audrey's character has recently suffered not only the loss of her husband but also the shock of discovering he has seemingly been leading a double-life. With the help of Cary Grant's character, she must get to the bottom of her husband's apparent suicide and discover the truth.. but not without a few baddies trying to get there first! And of course she does it while head to toe in Givenchy.
Dresses, acccompanied with matching coats; coordinating gloves, handbags and shoes; fabulous leopard print and fur turbans, and of course the chocolate boatneck fur jumper, complete with matching hat and woolen mittens... Even if the film had been rubbish, I probably would've still loved it.
NB. But it's not rubbish so if you haven't already seen it, then you definitely should!
Oh Audrey is just gorgeous.

Audrey Hepburn, love her. My favourite film of hers is Roman Holiday.
ReplyDeleteCharade is one of my favourite movies of all time - not only is the story captivating and charming and funny but the style... oh, the style! I'm pretty sure its the only reason I ever bought anything mustard coloured. If Audrey has done it, then you have to try :)
