I’ve always been a fan of her trademark over-sized shades from Breakfast at Tiffany’s to How to Steal a Million. However, having quite a small head I always need to be careful the frames aren’t to big for my face; otherwise I end up looking like some kind of bug or alien. Although I’ve stuck with a pair of trusty Rayban Wayfarers for the last few years, I spent last summer lusting over these Karen Walker sunglasses worn by Emily of Cupcakes and Cashmere. I’ve been searching for a similar pair for a while, and so when she posted about them again a couple of weeks ago, she only made me more determined and I came across these Cutler and Gross and Prism sunglasses on Avenue 32.
The ones to the left are Prism Dark Tortoise Mirrored Portofino Sunglasses, and to the right are Cutler and Gross Chocolate Cat Eye Star Sunglasses. I love the exaggerated cat eye shape of the Prism sunnies with their feline flick outwards and I think the tortoise shell makes them look less severe against your face. However, the Cutler and Cross have a much more subtle appeal with their more rounded shape, making them a lot easier to wear. I'm still not sure though.. maybe I want a pair of Rayban Clubmasters instead? With the snow showing little signs of shifting any time soon I guess I'll have a while to decide...
Audrey Hepburn is the epitome of elegance and sophistication! She always made even simple outfits look so classy. I love those sunglasses you displayed! I always find it hard to find sunglasses that look decent on me (I have a small long face!). And don't worry .. its so cold and soon snowy here in Canada that all I want to do is cuddle up beside a fire with a good book and tea all day long!
ReplyDeleteAww I'm glad I'm not the only one! I know, the wardrobe is so good I couldn't resist sharing a full Stylish Moments post on it tonight :) xx
DeleteI have to say I really like the cat eye shape of the Prism ones!
ReplyDeleteI'd also have to go out on a limb here and say that I will commit to Charade as my favourite ever Audrey film, big statement I know but such love for it <3
Haha I just add the full post on Charade and tagged you in it :) I can completely understand why; it's definitely up there but I'm not sure if it's my absolute favourite! Too hard to call.. Another one of her films that I really love is Two For the Road, which isn't that famous but it's so heatbreakingly honest about human nature and relationships.. if you haven't already seen it then promise me you'll watch it! xx
DeleteGreat inspiration,want one too;)

Love these frames. Ha ha "wayfarers"! From Don Henley's song "Boy's of Summer". I always wondered what the heck he was talking about.
