Now you know that when I find something good, I like to share. So let me introduce you to Newcastle's brand new burrito bar. It's a pretty simple layout with whitewashed brick, Latino inspired murals, and long communal benches where you can enjoy your burrito. It's basically like subway for burritos: they fill your tortilla with coriander rice, you choose your meat, add mild or spicy beans, pick your salsa from a range of spices and add a few extras. I opted for the chilli burrito with spicy beans, salsa, cheese, guacamole, sour cream and jalepenos. AMAZING. I got so excited about them, I managed to talk one of my mates into visiting the next day. He came back with the verdict (and delightful quote that I pinched for the post title..) that they were the 'best burritos this side of Tijuana'.
'best burritos this side of Tijuana'

Not so long ago Las Iguanas came to Toon and it was obvious (mainly from the size of the queues and how long it takes to get a table...) that what the city really lacked was decent Latin American restaurants, So of course you can imagine my excitement when I stumbled upon the little gem that is, Zapatista.

Mmm Mexican food is the yummiest :)
ReplyDeleteLooks delicious!
ReplyDeleteIs it expensive? I'm always looking for nice and cheap eats in Newcastle for the days when I don't fancy my, unimspiringly standard, own salad!
ReplyDeleteit's not too bad. I think it's about £4.20 for the burrito but then I paid extra to jalapenos and guacamole so it came to about a fiver. I thought it was worth it though cos they're HUGE! x
DeleteIn reply to your comment: yes they are teeth on my necklace haha!
ReplyDeleteThis food looks so good xo
Ahhhh that burrito looks so good, it makes me want to grab one as soon as I get off work. We have burrito bars all over Texas, as one might imagine, and I never get tired of eating at them.
