Lifestyle: Indulging in an afternoon tea and spa at Seaham Hall

When it comes to great spas, I'm afraid to say that those in the North East are few and far between. If you've followed my blog or Instagram for a while now, then you'll already know that Seaham Hall is by far my favourite.

From its grand Georgian grounds to its peaceful minimal interior, Seaham Hall is every bit the escape you need from daily life. And situated under 20 miles from Newcastle, it's not like you have to trek for hours before you can find your peace and quiet time. Which is perfect if you ever just want to clear your diary and take the rest of your afternoon off after a pretty hectic week or two...
With a range of different packages, starting from £49.50 (for their Twilight Package which I was treated to last time), offering from 4 hours to an entire day of pampering. If you're planning an impromptu afternoon visit like me, you could opt for the Afternoon Tea Spa (like us) or the Mellow Midweeker Spa, both of which see you fed and watered with use of the facilities for most of the day.
For those looking for a sweet treat rather than a lunch (although the food really is excellent), the afternoon tea is perfect. And what better way to spend an afternoon than with finger sandwiches and scones enjoyed in the comfort of your fluffy robe? From passionfruit tortes to macarons and freshly made carrot cake topped with cream cheese and walnuts, it's every bit as decadent as you'd hope. And the lovely staff refrain from all judgement if like me you make a pathetic attempt and wind up having to take most of it home with you!
Big thanks to Seaham Hall for offering me the perfect excuse to blow off my work for an afternoon of relaxation. Well, they do say stress is the enemy of productivity, don't they... or something like that.
