After seeing some of the main trends this season, I'm pretty excited for the SS13 stock to be hitting the shops. In particular, I'll be interested to see how Moschino, Louis Vuitton and Tom Ford's sixties silhouettes will filter down onto the high street. After perusing isme.com I was pleased to find they already had a few pieces that gave a nod to that trend with peter pan collars, feminine lace and Modish macs.
Since I work in a creative agency, I don't have to wear business dress, but I still always like to look smart - especially in front of clients! I always find that unless I feel quite smartly dressed, I don't feel as though I'm ready for work. I hate coming in looking too casual, and I very rarely wear jeans to work. Instead, I try to opt for smart casual clothes, and I've noticed that lately a lot of the pieces I'm buying right now are things that would look nice for work. This lace collared, floral tea dress is cute without looking overly twee, and is something that I could throw on easily any day of the week, and it wouldn't look daft for work. Similarly, this lace t-shirt would work well as a basic top for a number of outfits (particularly with my suede shorts...) - and again wouldn't look odd if I wore it for work with black cigarette trousers and ballet pumps! I'm normally not a huge fan of neon, but since the lace is so muted, it doesn't look like over kill. After my recent purchase of a liberty lined Barbour, the ditsy trim mac is probably a little unnecessary, but I love the shape and sixties feel. I've got a PVC rain mac that I bought years ago and which is perfect for throwing on when the weather's grim but it looks pretty daft during the day (unless I'm caught in torrential rain, then anyone who isn't wearing a rain mac looks pretty daft). This on the other hand would look smart thrown over the top of a tea dress, and because it's nice and light it's a good coat for when (or maybe I should say if?) the weather warms up a little. I can't resist the cute lining either!
What pieces are you planning on adding to your SS13 wardrobe?
I'm loving everything you've picked out here - especially the tea dress, so sweet but definitely not twee!
