Food: Meet and Treat, Newcastle

If you’re from the North East then unless you’ve been living under a stone, detoxing from the internet, or just avoiding Instagram, the chances that Meet and Treat haven’t showed up in your feed are extremely slim. It's the latest, most Instagrammable spot to have showed up in Newcastle for a long time. Floral patterned floors, mismatched furniture and exposed brickwork. It's the sort of place you can spend hours.
Sure, there's all day brunch options and eggs benedict, but don't mistake this for another smashed avocado toast sort of joint. Nestled just on the edge of China Town (next to Fujiyama if you're thinking of making a pilgrimage), Meet and Treat offers a mouthwatering array of pan-asian dishes. From light bites of vegetable gyoza and prawn dumplings, to Japanese chicken curry and Malaysian king prawn soup noodles. It's the type of carefully curated menu that you only get in a place that's packed with authenticity. And it's probably one of the cheapest place you can grab lunch in the city.
Having wiled away the hours in a corner with a cappuccino, I can vouch for it being a great place for freelancers. With a pretty laidback vibe and attentive staff, it's the perfect place to sit tapping away at a keyboard. I can't promise you won't end up over indulging while you're there.
