lessons in conservative dressing

Still trying to embrace the whole conservative dressing (whilst in the ridiculous heat) for India. I've packed maxis, midi skirts, linen trousers and then today this anchor jumpsuit arrived from Asos but after stumbling upon the blue patterned jumpsuit below from Primark (for a third of the price) I think I may just return the anchor one. I'm not sure what the policy will be about strapless garments (particularly in Rajasthan) but it doesn't take up much space so I figured there was no harm in throwing it in my backpack.

I'm heading down to Sheffield tomorrow afternoon then flying from Manchester on Saturday so I think this will be my last post for the next two weeks because I'll probably be a bit too stressed out in the morning.

Take care you lot, and I'll be back in a couple weeks with lots of photos!

Having spent the weekend buying the last few things I'll need to take away, I've been pretty quiet on the blogging front. I feel like time is flying over and I'm still organising myself as well as trying to fit in catching up with all of my favourite people before I go. I still have countless lists stuffed in my bag (although I think this one that B made for me is definitely my favourite..), and the spare time I've had has been spent consuming The Hunger Games books at an alarming rate. It was recommended to me by the lovely Fen who did warn me how addictive it was but it wasn't until I started reading that I fully understood. It's been ages since I've found myself sucked into a book but having finished the first and second over the weekend I'm trying to pace myself with the last one.

Daffodils, sunshine and yellow brooches

Sunshine, daffodils & brooches... yellow is one of those colours that always offers a nice little pick-me-up. I found this brooch earlier this morning whilst clearing out a bunch of old clothes. It was attached to a dress that I'm never going to wear again and I almost binned it without a second thought but it was the colour that caught my eye. The catch is a little loose and in need of some TLC though!

Yesterday was a busy day and it's been nice to get to slow down a little this morning. I've got all my writing for this month submitted (ahead of deadline) to try and give myself one less thing to stress about. I've got lists upon lists of things that I need to get done in the next ten days (yes, 10 DAYS). And I really don't understand who has let it be Wednesday already when I'm still only half way down Tuesday's 'to do' list!

Now I like to hope that I can use my little corner of the internet to occasionally do some good. If you haven't already watched this then please take the time to.

With my wanderlust kicking in a few days ago, I decided to spend this weekend starting to get myself organised for India. So now I've made myself a proper checklist of all the things I need and most importantly of all, I've (finally) bought a backpack. Nearly ready for an adventure..

Only two weeks until I go to India and the arrival of my Lonely Plant guide to Rajasthan, Delhi & Agra today has sent me into a mad shopping frenzy! There is so much stuff I want to buy at the minute, but I'm really conscious that I'm going to need to be dressed conservatively while I'm out there. It's hard to fight the temptation to pack the skimpy clothes that I would normally opt for when faced with 30 degree heat! Maybe it's finally time to embrace the maxi..

How cute are the buckled ASOS sandals by the way? Just ordered myself a pair tonight.. when I saw that they'd been reduced to £14 it seemed rude not to!

Cheese dogs, coke in glass bottles and ice cream sundaes in a 50s themed ice cream parlour.. can you think of a better way to spend an afternoon?
