I subscribe and so it's the collectors covers which I get (pictured above). On the cover of the normal edition Michelle Williams is pictured wearing a gorgeous pale blue dress. You can view some shots on their website here. I've read a few posts about this cover which were slightly disgruntled and even a little disappointed that Michelle is sporting a pixie crop and dainty feminine lace and silk outfits, rather than exuding Marilyn Monroe with a glamourous fifties look. Personally I'm glad they didn't go for that spin. Although I can't wait to see her portrayal of the ultimate blonde sex symbol, I think it would have been overkill to have her pose in Marilyn Monroe inspired outfits while she's promoting the film. Plus with Rihanna gracing last month's British Vogue as a blonde bombshell (inspired by Faye Dunaway), I can't help but think it would've been a bit to samey for Elle to shoot Michelle Williams in Marilyn style look. Or is that just me?
Anyway, back to Michelle... My Week With Marilyn is due to hit the cinema near my birthday so I'm hoping I'll not have any problems finding someone to drag along! It's based on the time which Marilyn spent in England while filming The Prince and The Showgirl. While I wouldn't say it's my favourite of Monroe's films, it is definitely worth watching. I'm interested to see how the filming of it will be incorporated into My Week With Marilyn. The trailers have really whetted my appetite and it looks as though Jill Taylor has done a fantastic job with the wardrobe which all looks amazing. I was pleasantly surprised at how much Michelle Williams resembles Marilyn. To see the official trailer click here.
Hope you all enjoyed Halloween, it was great to hear what your favourite movies are!

Great covers! <3<3
ReplyDeleteMichelle Williams looks absolutely gorgeous, I love her hair and her dress. On that cover she reminds me a bit of Mia Farrow from Rosemary's Baby, but maybe that's just me..

Sarah- yes I completely agree she looks a lot like Mia Farrow. This cover also made me realise how much she looks like Carey Mulligan!
ReplyDeleteSammy- thank you, it was taken a long time ago in Paris. I'm getting a little bored of my current blog design and feel like I need to have a big rethink!
Thanks for your lovely comments

Yes, she looks like Carey Mulligan too! I'm glad you can see a bit of Mia Farrow in her too, I was wondering if I were the only one who thought it.

I really love Michelle Williams, especially now. I mean, when I was younger, I used to think she was pretty cute in Dawson's Creek but now she's just gorgeous! Love her cropped hair too!
