and here's a one i made earlier...oh wait, no...i've not had time to make it yet...

Another week (and weekend) are over.
Haven't felt like there's been enough hours to get everything done!
So i sat and watched Sherlock tonight- part 1- and I have to say I love it. Maybe not more than I love Jonathon Creek. He reminds me of him and I think thats a lot of the reason I like it. Definitely worth a watch- I have to say I was a bit sceptical but I think it works well the way they've done it.
Got another week working at The Crack and then a friend is coming back up this weekend for a visit, so we're planning a bender in Ncl and then something nice on sunday. That's if we don't have too much of a sore head!

On a different note...
I got this fabric a little while ago from Durham market...

IMG00270-20100408-2302.jpg

It's Liberty and was the remnants of a roll so i got it for £1.99....such a bargain. The fabric will make such a nice top- that is when i get around to making it. I just havent found the time yet. Oops.
i'm thinking 50s style vest/cropped top much like...

Or this sort of shape....
vicky-cristina-barcelona
I love the yellow gingham just as much as I love the shape - although this is not a good picture to show the shape of it as its blowing up rather than lying how it should.
I do have buttons for my top too- gorgeous little mother of pearl ones- but I'm thinking I want them going down the back of it rather than the front.

now I just have to make sure I get it done before my holiday!!
Eeeek, not long now.

p.s If you have not seen either of those films....(first two stills are from Breathless and the second is from Vicky Cristina Barcelona) then I would definitely recommend them.

missing the weekend already...

Hello hello, hope the weekend treated you well.
So the boy is back home now, he came up to see me on Saturday armed with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of merlot.

Spent a nice quiet night in with him. Today we went to ncl and spent the day wandering around the city and doing a spot of shopping- needed a new hat for holidays as I squashed my old trilby in the boot of my car and it was never quite right again....oops. This one was a bargain though- H & M mens, £4.99!

Photo 15

For lunch we stopped at the gorgeous El Coto....always a favourite....and sat in the little courtyard outside, sharing tapas and white wine and soda (half a san miguel for him though cos he was driving). He then treated me to a new bead for my pandora bracelet- as a holiday present. Followed by relaxing on the night watching old episodes of The O.C and then The Damned United.
Back working at The Crack tomorrow, so should have another busy week ahead. Need to hurry up and start reading this novel- Pop Idle- as I'm reviewing it for the aug issue. So far not convinced but I'll keep you updated.

I can't wait for the weekend, already.

just a little something to brighten your day....

I just wanted to share this snippet of my day.....it has been quite an odd one. I was doing some research for The Crack Magazine, and walking through Sunderland town (where you meet some strange characters at the best of times) I saw a man dressed in a full suit and wearing a top hat. At first I tried to avoid eye contact thinking that he was possibly on drugs. However, curiosity got the better of me and I looked at him as I passed by...and he tipped his hat at me!

I know this is may be a little sad but it made me sort of wish people did do that sort of thing nowadays, such a sweet gesture.

Maybe there are still romantics.

P.s I hate to admit it but maybe this means i'm missing the boy....I get to see him soon though.

Today has been quite hectic, chose the photos from the shoot which will be going in Etc magazine. Don't want to say too much about them at this stage though because I'm not allowed to post anything until after its gone to print because of copyright....and thats not till Sept! I will tell you this though- we went for 30/40s glamour with military vibe. So looked at the main trends for a/w 10 of high waisted tailored trouser, midi skirts, military (but think WW military not G.I Joe). On a different note, I went for a nice walk around the river last night with a friend, we took her dog and it was a nice night, until it started raining...this little swan family made me smile though.

you know how to whistle, don't you?

Found this image in a paper in the 1960s archive at the sunderland echo.
I sort of love how un-PC it is.....
I think the caption on it was something like:
"these train workers don't need to be told twice!"

So I am glad to say that I am having lots of fun at The Crack Magazine :)
Yesterday was a class day- got into the office at about 10, had a leisurely walk down with my boss Rob to the Tyneside cinema - this gorgeous 1930s cinema, recently been refurbished and restored to its full glory. The whole place is so pretty with these beautiful mosaic floors. Its a great place cos it plays art house and low budget as well as old films.

Anyway, we went to the press screening for this new film, SoulBoy, produced by Ipso Facto Films. Its all about the northern soul movement, and is pipped to do for soul music what Quadrophenia did for the mods. Verdict? AMAZING
Albeit the storyline was a bit predictable it did not stop me from loving it!!! Sometimes its nice to have things work out the way you want them too. There's something inherently reassuring about a happy ending.
Plus of course the dance scenes were insane!
Definitely one to watch out for.

just a little catch up...

Had a nice weekend with the boy, fairly quiet and didn't do much but spent the day in Ncl today, drinking coffee frappucinos, eating rocky road and enjoying the sunshine. The lucky sod is off to see his best friend in Spain on thurs...I'm dying for a holiday!! Luckily not long to wait since me and the boy are off to kefalonia for a fortnight in August. I cannot wait! Been stocking up on summer essentials....scored an awesome bikini in the topshop sale for £4!!! Not to mention sorting myself out with sandals etc....Kurt Geiger of course :)

First these cute pink suede ones, which nearly got trashed watching the england match with lager flying all over. Then I got these jelly ones are french connection....perfect for the beach.

On a different note...for those of you who haven't seen the courier blog, here's a few of my favourites from the shoot. I love the way the photos turned out, and I think all the outfits work well.

Got another busy week ahead after spending last week learning more about newspapers from The Journal, Chronicle and Sunday Sun, and working for The Crack so should be fun. Not to mention trying to sort the stuff out for the Etc shoot, which is going to be on monday the 12th so not long......busy busy busy.

Well I guess it keeps me out of trouble!
