i'll do graffiti if you sing to me in french...

526601235670298

Possibly the greatest bit of graffiti in the world?

Once gracing the side of one of the Newcastle uni buildings... it has sadly been scrubbed away now...

So it's freshers next week...kind of excited but not just for the nights out... I promised a mate we'd all make the effort to go visit all the touristy things in the North East. For instance...despite having been up for 12 years now, I have yet to have paid a visit to the Angel of the North. That being said its hard to miss it off the a1 but I mean I've never been up to the actual thing.

But after freshers comes reality.

And no, I have not done anywhere near enough reading.

lookbook: little house on the prairie

I'm just trying out LOOKBOOK and this is my first outfit post :)

littlehouseontheprairie

The plaid-style material and colours are very rustic and remind me of the countryside. The title of the outfit comes sort of from that...but its also what I'm reading at the minute- prepping for a children's lit module... So have spent all day with my head in kidnapped and little house on the prairie- except for a quick dash out with my little brother to grab a medium chicken pitta and peri chips from Nandos.... mmmmm.

The dress was an absolute bargain...reduced to a £5 in the Topshop sale. Score. Its dead baggy and I think it'll be a nice winter dress with a pair of long boots and a chunky cardy.

Let me know what you think!

latest obsession...

mischa barton 160810

When I spotted Mischa Barton's high waisted suede shorts, it was love at first sight. Suede is definitely one of my favourite fabrics... I love the texture of it and the way it marks, becoming completely unique. So I can't explain how over the moon I was when I found Topshop's chocolate suede shorts?? instant purchase. and I have to say I love them a little bit more every day! :)

Afternoon Tea

IMG00466-20100902-1446.jpg

My little mam had been saying for ages and ages how she wanted to go out for afternoon tea, and last week as a nice little treat we decided to head to Beamish Hall. How posh?

Cue: hundreds of cups of tea, lots of cute egg mayo sarnies, scones with cream and jam, and far too many cakes

Followed by a nice little wander around the grounds in the sunshine.
(sorry for the bad quality...they were taken on the blackberry)

you've got to hand it to the girl...

cheryl-cole-vogue-uk-october-2010-cover

So for those already in the UK you will already be well aware that Oct Vogue sees the lovely Cheryl Cole gracing its cover for the second time in 18months! Being from the North East obviously I do love her. There's something reassuring about the level of success she's achieved without putting on a fake accent and forgetting her roots. You've got to hand it to the girl, she's done very well for herself. And best of luck to her now she's got rid of her cheating rat of a husband.

I think the pics from the shoot are gorgeous and she looks beautiful in all the soft sugary colours.

2mcc0tk

There's something about the photos that is very reminiscent of Sofia Coppola's advert for Dior's Miss Cherie.

That being said....is it just me or is this a little bit of a summery cover for the Oct issue?? Seems like a lot of pink considering we're entering A/W? I have to admit she does look gorgeous though so I don't really mind. Maybe someone at Condé Nast felt it would be a nice change from moving into all the heavy rich colours normally associated with this time of year. It is definitely a change from the camel which is appearing everywhere. Demarchelier did a good job.

I definitely prefer this cover to her previous one back in Feb 09, where she was so heavily made up she looked like a different person...

Turkish Delight

It wasn't the holiday I'd planned going on.
But everything happens for a reason.
And yes it was 45degrees every day for a fortnight. :)
