long lunches and love letters

First of all there's something exciting to report....
Remember back when I was stressing about the Etc shoot in July? Well Etc magazine is finally out..

So yesterday I spent the day with my Mam in Durham, we wandered around browsing the charity shops and had lunch at Fat Buddha.
We had salt and chilli king prawns to start, then I had chicken teriyaki with egg fried rice and my Mam had king prawn Malaysian curry with egg fried rice. yum yum.
We didn't buy much but I found a few books in the charity shops....one of them seemed to come at just the right moment!
It's called "Other People's Love letters" and sort of reminds me of postsecret. it's filled with messages of love, apologies and goodbyes. Which seemed very fitting as I posted a package that day which lifted a massive weight off my shoulders.

There was one note which stood out for me more than any of the others:

Took the words right out of my mouth.

And yes i need to put the turkey pics up still!

back to reality

"I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together."
— Marilyn Monroe

Hello there....little bit of an absence...I just got back from holiday this morning.
Things have been pretty hectic and I wasn't much in the mood for blogging- as you probably guessed by the last post. Wanted to share this Monroe quote first of all because I love her and admire her in so many ways, secondly because it made me smile.

Circumstances changed and I ended up in Turkey for two weeks with the rents and my two little brothers, and it couldn't have worked out better....sometimes its nice to have your family around. The heat was insane and I promise to put some pics up soon but for now just to bring you up to speed....

Me and A had another shoot on the thurs just before i went away- we wanted to fit in something nice and summery before usual British weather reared its ugly head. A shot the photos, which i think have turned out fab. We decided to shoot a 50s style picnic in Durham and luckily it was a gorgeous day! The city is so pretty and we were lucky enough to loan one of the rowing boats to shoot the girls on the River Wear. Here's a sneak of the photos, if you want to see them all they've been posted on the Courier blog, but heres a few of my favourites...

I'll post soon about Turkey but for now just wanted to say thanks to the bloggers who left messages of support on the last post. I appreciate it a lot.

beads and buddies

Well this weekend has been a very strange one and I'm now in a position I didn't think I'd find myself in.
On the plus side, I had a visit from a close pal to cheer me up. Had such a good night catching up and partying with her on saturday. But now she's gone home and I'm left to my own thoughts I can't believe what has happened. Depressing? Yes indeed. It's times like this when you know who your mates are; they're the ones there to pick up all the pieces.
but here's some of the photos from saturday before i drag you all into my melancholy:-
